- Blenheim Palace
-
Our journey begins with a visit to the magnificent Blenheim Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of England's most spectacular stately homes. Still the private residence of the 11th Duke and Duchess of Marlborough, the palace is perhaps best known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill.
Step inside the lavish State Rooms and admire an extraordinary collection of historic treasures, including ornate Boulle furniture, Savonnerie carpets and the iconic Victories tapestries, which commemorate the Duke of Marlborough's triumph over the armies of Louis XIV at the Battle of Blenheim. Beyond the palace, enjoy time to explore the beautifully landscaped formal gardens and more than 2,000 acres of parkland shaped by the renowned landscape designer Lancelot 'Capability' Brown. You may also wish to visit the romantic spot where Churchill proposed to Clementine Hozier.
- Christmas at Blenheim Palace (13 November 2026 – 3 January 2027)
- During the festive season, the palace is transformed into a magical retelling of Cinderella. A magnificent Christmas tree welcomes visitors in the Great Hall, while each State Room brings a different chapter of the beloved fairytale to life. Follow the story from the pumpkin carriage to the glass slipper, culminating in a fairytale wedding scene fit for a prince and princess. It's a truly enchanting experience and the perfect backdrop for festive photographs.
- The Cotswolds: Stow-on-the-Wold & Bampton
-
From Blenheim, we journey into the heart of the Cotswolds to the historic market town of Stow-on-the-Wold, one of the region's most beloved destinations. Perched atop an 800ft hill, Stow is renowned for its impressive Market Square, honey-coloured stone buildings and stunning views across the rolling Cotswold countryside.
Once a thriving centre of the medieval wool trade, the town is now home to a charming collection of antique shops, independent boutiques, traditional inns and inviting cafés. Highlights include the famous north door of St Edward's Church, said to have inspired Tolkien's Middle-earth, and The Porch House, reputed to be England's oldest inn, dating back to 947 AD. Enjoy free time to wander the historic streets, browse the eclectic range of local shops, indulge in a traditional afternoon tea or simply soak up the timeless atmosphere of this quintessential Cotswold town.
Our final stop is the picturesque village of Bampton, known for its traditional limestone cottages, peaceful village green and beautiful parish church, St Mary the Virgin. Bampton is perhaps best recognised as a filming location for the acclaimed television series Downton Abbey, but its authentic rural charm makes it a delight for all visitors. Take time to explore its quiet lanes and experience the enduring character of an English village surrounded by rolling countryside.
