The iconic site at Stonehenge is one of the most famous Neolithic monuments in the world and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. The mystery behind its construction continues to stir opinion as we attempt to understand who built it, how it was constructed, and why.
There are many things to see and do during your time here, including:
- Walk around the perimeter of the Stone Circle and enjoy the views over the Salisbury Plain
- Visit the reconstructed Neolithic houses and see how people lived 5,000 years ago
- Catch a display of ancient domestic skills, including rope making, flint knapping, and grinding grain
- Take in the 360-degree audio-visual presentation at the visitor centre and see what it feels like to stand in the middle of the famous Stone Circle
- Explore the world-class exhibition centre, where over 250 objects are on display, including pottery, jewellery, and even ancient human remains!
The enormous standing stones of Stonehenge are a true marvel. As you delve into the 5000-year history of these ancient megaliths, you'll encounter the fascinating mysteries that have puzzled archaeologists for generations. What are they for? Who put them here? What do they have to do with the cycle of the seasons and the setting of the sun?
All these questions will be explored in the multilingual audio tour. You'll also get access to the visitor's centre and the fascinating Neolithic houses placed nearby, giving you a glimpse into the world of Stonehenge's past. The centre has over 250 ancient objects, from pottery and tools to jewellery, each of which is thousands of years old.
With two hours to explore the site and the visitor's centre, you'll be able to take in the sights at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful Salisbury countryside. Our comfortable coaches have complimentary Wi-Fi and take you directly to the site, meaning less time spent in transit.
