5 Romantic Things to Do in Paris

The French capital is widely considered to be one of the most romantic cities on the planet. Strolling along its cobbled streets and monument-lined boulevards, it’s easy to understand why ‘The City of Love’ is a nickname that has stuck.

With so many romantic things to do in Paris, it has long been a favourite destination for honeymooners, couples and those looking for love.

Be sure to add these sights and activities to your to-do (or to-see) list for the ultimate romantic Parisian adventure.

1. Enjoy Stunning Views from the Eiffel Tower

The panoramic birds-eye views of Paris from atop the Eiffel Tower are truly staggering. From here, you can see the gently winding streets filled with beautiful gothic architecture. You can also glimpse landmarks such as Montmartre, Notre Dame, and the Arc de Triomphe.

We recommend ascending the Tower either early in the morning or in time for sunset. Watching the sunset over the French capital will undoubtedly reignite your passion for romance, and is one of the most romantic things to do in Paris.

2. Head to a Green Space for a Picnic

Picnics have long been synonymous with romance. And let’s not deny it – it’s much more affordable to dine on a blanket in a park than in a Michelin-starred restaurant.

That doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavour to save a few euros. In the French capital, you’re spoilt for choice when it comes to varieties of cheeses, breads, meats and wines.

Choosing the best Parisian park isn’t straightforward; there are lots of them. Our favourites include Parc des Buttes Chaumont, Champs de Mars (right next to the Eiffel Tower) and Luxembourg Gardens.

3. Cruise Along the River Seine

Now that you’ve seen the city from above and filled your bellies, it’s time to get up close and personal with Paris from street level. And when we say street, we really mean river.

While we recommend exploring romantic streets like Rue Cler, Champs-Élysées and Rue des Rosiers, we think there’s no better way to enjoy the sights of Paris than by taking an intimate cruise along the River Seine. Give your feet a rest, wrap your arms around each other, and let the charming French capital whisk you away into a state of passionate bliss.

4. Visit the Pont des Arts

Pont des Arts is known as ‘Love Lock Bridge’. It’s been a popular hotspot for couples since 2008, when you could attach an engraved lock to the railings before throwing the key in the River Seine to symbolise your ever-lasting love.

This practice is no longer allowed. Still, Pont des Arts is one of the most uniquely romantic sights in the French capital.

5. End the Night by Watching a Cabaret Show

You’ve seen the landmarks, eaten a romantic lunch, enjoyed a cruise tour and visited Paris’s best green spaces. Now, it’s time to end the day with some entertainment.

Paris is the birthplace of the cabaret. Performances geared towards adults can be a little raunchy, but they’re wildly entertaining, unique and ideal for couples. Looking for the perfect way to celebrate your love with a few glasses of French wine?

Head to the world-famous Moulin Rouge. At this historic venue, the cabaret shows are the main draw, but its beverage and food selection won’t fail to impress.
