What’s on in London in June

As London springs into summer, outdoor festivals, parades, sports events and more bring life to the vibrant capital’s streets in June. Take the chance to be a part of some of Britain’s best-loved events as they return for their latest addition, from the Taste of London food festival to Trooping the Colour in celebration of the Queen’s birthday. Stroll over to Regent’s Park during June to sample food from some of the capital’s best-known restaurants, including Duck & Waffle, Kurobuta and The Cinnamon Club. Watch a live cooking demonstration, take part in a masterclass and pick up some artisanal gifts. Don’t miss José Pizarro and Monica Galetti, just two of several renowned chefs in the festival line-up.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

As well as seeing the Harry Potter theatre production, explore the world of Harry Potter on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour

The most talked-about play of the year launches in June, following on from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, as Harry’s son Albus embarks on his first year at Hogwarts. Although the booking period has now closed, you can ballot for tickets each day or buy one in the weekly sale, which will take place at 1pm every Friday, throughout the play’s run.

Masterpiece London

Bringing together exhibitors from across the world, this luxury annual fair will feature artworks spanning 5,000 years, alongside an array of unique antiques. There will also be talks, tours and a variety of entertainment, as well as food from the likes of The Ivy, Le Caprice and Scott’s.

Trooping the Colour: The Queen’s Birthday Parade

This procession by the Horse Guards has been a staple on the calendar since the 18th century, and this year it’s set to be particularly special in recognition of the Queen’s 90th birthday. Head over to St James’s Park before 10am to watch the parade for free, and stay for the fly-past, which takes place at around 1pm. Get there early to secure a good spot, as it’s likely to be busy.

Nothing says quintessentially British quite like strawberries and cream at Wimbledon. You can turn up on the day to try and buy a ticket, and if you don’t manage to get access to a game, you can still explore the grounds by purchasing a Ground Admission wristband in the morning.

Over 200 gardens will welcome in the public at the Open Garden Squares Weekend, providing a unique opportunity to explore London’s hidden green spaces. Tours, arts events, guided walks and more will be taking place in various locations across the city, with gardens spanning everything from private rooftop lawns to public squares.
