The kids are finally back at school and Brits across the country are racing to catch the last few drops of sunshine before autumn sets in. Yup, it’s September again.
Even as the summer slowly fades, there’s still a tonne of exciting events happening across London. With the school holidays over, it’s the perfect time of year to explore the city’s cultural side. From art exhibitions to architecture festivals, you’re guaranteed to find something that will stimulate the sense and get the cogs whirring. Let’s take a look at some of London’s best events for September
The London design festival
This is, for sure, the biggest event of the month. London Design festival is set to sweep the whole city, featuring exhibitions, events, and artistic extravaganzas in a variety of locations. It’s landmark projects will show off the design prowess of the capital’s most talented designers. See an enormous tower made solely of paper tubing on the South Bank, a giant chess set in Trafalgar Square, a huge magnetic penny, and the beautiful light reflections room at the V&A. Take a look at the website to explore the massive range of fascinating projects to see.
Basquiat exhibition
Exploding on to the art scene of the 80’s, Jean-Michel Basquiat defined the American neo-expressionist movement with his brash and boisterous street art. His blend of contemporary urban imagery with something definitively Afro-Carribean was a breath of fresh air for the modern art scene. Explore a stunning retrospective of Basquiat’s best work for the first time in the UK at the Barbican center.
