It&#8217;s believe that this inspired the Tudor royal household to instruct their guards to do the same on St. David&#8217;s Day, thanks to their family&#8217;s origins, cementing the tradition.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Daffodils:<\/strong> Only becoming popular since 19th century, the daffodil likely rose to prominence thanks to the flower&#8217;s Welsh name (<em>cenhinen Bedr<\/em>), which literally translates as \u2018Peter\u2019s leek\u2019 \u2013 leeks having been a symbol of Wales since before the 16th century.
