And one of the most famous of these architectural sites is The Circus, which takes its name from the Latin word for oval or circle. As this Latin name suggests, these Grade I listed townhouses are built around a circular space, one of which was home to the artist Thomas Gainsborough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The townhouses of Royal Crescent are also built in this style, with No. 1 now acting as a museum. Perhaps the most impressive site in terms of its architecture is Bath Abbey. The gallery also offers behind-the-scenes tours on select days, allowing visitors to view<\/span> the artworks in the gallery\u2019s storeroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Try a local afternoon tea<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Situated alongside the Roman Baths, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romanbaths.co.uk\/pump-room-restaurant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Pump Room<\/a> is resoundingly popular as one of the best places to visit in Bath. The restaurant\u2019s afternoon tea comes with a selection of both savoury and sweet teatime treats, with the option of adding on Champagne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Jane Austen Centre also <span style=\"box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;\">features its own restaurant, the period-style\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.janeausten.co.uk\/regencytearoom\/\" target=\"_blank\">Regency Tea Room,<\/a>\u00a0which serves both afternoon teas and cream teas, with staff dressed in costume to complement<\/span> the Jane Austen theme.
